Si è svolta questa notte l’ottantunesima edizione degli Oscar. The Millionaire ha battuto tutti gli altri film in concorso aggiudicandosi ben otto statuette. Tra queste anche l’Oscar per la Miglior Fotografia assegnato al direttore della fotografia Anthony Dod Mantle. A presentare il premio per questa categoria c’erano Natalie Portman e Ben Stiller.
Anthony Dod Mantle, cinquantaquattrenne inglese è già stato direttore della fotografia di numerosi e famosi progetti cinematografici: oltre The Millionaire, 28 giorni dopo e Dogville: ed è stato Vincitore Migliore fotografia ( British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, 2009 ) e Vincitore Direttore della fotografia Europeo 2003 ( European Film Awards, 2003 ).
Gli altri candidati all’Oscar per la Miglior Fotografia erano: Tom Stern (film: Changeling); Claudio Miranda (film: Il curioso caso di Benjamin Button); Wally Pfister (film: Il cavaliere oscuro); Chris Menges e Roger Deakins (film: The Reader).
